The Pemi Motor Court is located on Rt. 3 in Lincoln,
NH. It is centrally located to several area attractions. Just up the road from them is the
Whales Tail Water Park; other attractions include Clarks Trading Post, The Basin, The Flume,
Cannon Mountain and Loon Mountain.
Pemi has rustic cabins ranging from one bedroom to 2 bedrooms and also has a motel. The
cabins have screened in back porches with a table and chairs that give you a view of the
Pemigewasset River. They have their own wading pool that they created in the river. All the
cabins have fireplaces, which makes for a nice atmosphere in the fall. It’s nice to hear the
river flowing as you’re falling off to sleep at night.
This is a nice place to bring your dog, you can take them swimming in the river, or just a
short walk down the road you can follow the snowmobile trail into the woods.
We usually go for breakfast at the Longhorn Restaurant just down the road. They serve
breakfast and lunch only and the food is very good. There are other places to eat in the area
also. You can also barbeque at Pemi on their outdoor grills. We usually drive into Franconia
and do some shopping at Kelly’s Market.
On this trip Phil took off very early in the morning with Taffy and headed to the Basin to
get so photos. When he stopped for a shoot he tied her to a nearby tree, which confused her
at first but she eventually realized what he was doing. The photos will be posted soon.
When they returned Phil told
me we would be going back to the Basin as he promised Taffy she could go swimming. We had
taken her to the wading pool behind the cabins but she really wasn’t crazy about the stones in
the water. One of the other guests had come down to swim and had tried to coax her into the
wading pool, but she was having none of that.
Upon our return to the Basin, Phil continued to take pictures, Taffy and I waited patiently.
Occasionally people would come by, and Taffy made some new friends. There were several other
dogs there with their owners and most had been swimming. Taffy doesn’t get to have a lot of
face-to-face encounters with other dogs, but she handled it well. She loves people,
especially children and most times would ignore the dogs.
